A downloadable game

Remember that day we started developing the Sunset Forest game:

It was late evening, and I have occasionally found some information about GM48 game jam. The theme had already been known and other people were probably already working hard on their games. The theme was “Two Sides” and I’ve immediately come up with idea for the strategy with the main task to defend the castle being attacked from “Two Sides”.

Those days we were already working with Kureoni on the game in the isometric style, but it was planned as a long-term project, although it was our first collaboration ( Classical GameDev J ) . But then I thought like: “Why not?”.  I wrote to Kure with some concept of the game and the idea to participate in Game Jam. To my biggest surprise he liked that idea and gave his agreement as soon as he received the message. So it was early day in Brazil where he leaves and almost night in Belarus where I do, we had about 16 hours left and almost nothing ready for the game. This is how this story started…

Those events were followed by the hard work from us both. I remember well how I was happy to see my brother inviting his friends to our house because this would make me stay up longer. I also remember how I had to go outside just because of the eyes nervous tick but then I went back to keep working and try finishing the game in time. Oh… It was such a good time…

Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay up all the day long and I had to sleep a few hours before going back to work, but as always happens in those moments I met the technical problems: my internet went off…

So, of course we didn’t finish the game that day, I was very upset because Kure really gave his best to make this game and was probably working twice as hard as me. But all this really gave me the biggest motivation to finish the game…

About 4 months has passed since the day we started making the Sunset Forest J . So many different things have happened during this time. We had found a new Sound Designer who left a few sounds and soundtrack composition which can heard in the game menu but then he became too busy for the further development. Then Gabriel joined our team as a new sound designer. This was all happening during the worldwide pandemic situation and horrible events in Belarus and many more…

I know it’s probably more like a development diary rather than game description but the game itself is also much more important as the first experience of the new and young “Thirty-Three Studio” than just one more platformer on the indie market. Thank you for your reading this message, it is very important for us to meet any feedback to stay on this hard path to our dreams…

(Hope these Words will be true soon :) )

But after months of producing new ideas, art, sounds, code and just months of our lives we are here… Ready to pull that trigger off, releasing the game on the itch.io for the first time. I just want to say: “Thank you guys! We have done it together and we have done it well!”
